Additional Healing Methods

Kambo with Wilson

Kambo, also known as the “frog medicine” or “sapo,” is a potent traditional medicine derived from the secretions of the giant monkey frog (Phyllomedusa bicolor) native to the Amazon rainforest. Used for centuries by indigenous tribes, Kambo is renowned for its powerful cleansing and healing properties.

The medicine is administered through small burns or superficial incisions on the skin, followed by the application of the Kambo secretion. Once applied, Kambo stimulates a rapid and intense purgative response, inducing vomiting, sweating, and bowel movements. This detoxifying process is believed to rid the body of toxins, boost the immune system, and restore balance to the mind, body, and spirit.

Beyond its physical detoxification effects, Kambo is also revered for its profound spiritual and emotional healing properties. Many users report experiencing heightened clarity, emotional release, and spiritual insights after a Kambo session. It is often used to address a wide range of ailments, including chronic pain, addiction, depression, anxiety, and fatigue.

Vapor Sauna with Matilde

In contrast to a plant bath, a vapor sauna entails sitting in a chair within a small tent while naked. Water infused with a curated blend of plants, selected by the curandero for purification and healing purposes, is boiled and placed beneath our feet. As the steam rises, it creates a distinctive sauna-like atmosphere within the enclosed space.

The vapor sauna harnesses the combined power of specific plants to cleanse the body of negative energies and shield it from their influence. Maestra Mathilda may recommend multiple vapor saunas based on the specific ailments being addressed, whether they involve spiritual attacks, joint or muscular discomfort, skin issues, congestion, or viral infections.

Energetic Massage with Matilda

In Shipibo-Conibo tradition, energetic massage is a sacred healing practice that involves working with the subtle energies of the body to promote balance, harmony, and well-being. Unlike conventional massage techniques that focus primarily on the physical body, energetic massage goes beyond the surface to address the energetic imbalances that may be contributing to physical, emotional, or spiritual disharmony.

Matilda may use various techniques to assess and manipulate the energy field surrounding the body, including light touch, sweeping motions, and gentle pressure. By working with the body’s subtle energy system, the practitioner can help to clear blockages, release stagnant energy, and restore the natural flow of energy throughout the body.

Energetic massage is often used to address a wide range of physical and emotional issues, including stress, anxiety, chronic pain, fatigue, and emotional trauma. It can also be used to promote relaxation, enhance vitality, and support overall health and well-being

Sound Bath with Dawid

A sound bath is a deeply immersive and meditative experience that uses sound waves to promote relaxation, healing, and spiritual awakening. During a sound bath session, participants typically lie down in a comfortable position while the practitioner plays various instruments such as crystal singing bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, chimes, drums, and other sound tools.

The vibrations and frequencies produced by these instruments are thought to resonate with the body’s energy centers, or chakras, as well as the cells, tissues, and organs, creating a harmonizing effect on the entire body-mind-spirit system. As the sound waves wash over the participants, they may experience a sense of deep relaxation, inner peace, and profound connection to themselves and the universe.

Integration Session with Anna

Integration is a vital aspect of the healing journey, particularly in trauma-informed practices. It involves supporting participants to internalize and embody the insights gained during their sacred medicine experiences. The aim is to transform these insights into tangible realities that influence behaviors, responses, and perceptions in everyday life.

The process of integration is not merely about accumulating experiences; it’s about embodying them fully, allowing them to permeate every aspect of one’s being – body, mind, and spirit. This holistic approach ensures that the insights manifest externally through thoughts, feelings, and actions.

In essence, integration requires creating a safe and compassionate space where individuals can explore and nurture their sacred medicine experiences. With a trauma-informed foundation, participants are guided towards embodying their insights authentically, ultimately leading to profound personal transformation.

We offer an extensive post-dieta support system, which encompasses a group video call ( included in retreat price ) and the opportunity for individualized one-on-one sessions ( available for an additional fee ).

About the Inca Shipiba

Inca Shipiba is a Centers run and owned by the indigenous wisdom keepers of the Shipibo Ayahuasca tradition. By us you are directly assisting the preservation of one of the last visionary plant medicine traditions, so needed in these crucial times. We believe that thanks to this karmic balance the healing of our guests can be way more profound, the safety more contained and the prices more affordable as they directly go to Maestra Matilde and her family.

The Inca Shipiba team believes in true empowerment of the Shipibo shamans and a change of the current paradigm where rich westerners are taking over a sacred tradition and using the indigenous shamans as a way to attract more clients.

It’s up to you to decide if an ancient tradition preserved by hundreds or thousands of years is worth the prices that we ask for our services. The more people align with this vision, the more we will be able to support the preservation of the indigenous ways of the Shipibo tribe.

In our work we want to protect Inca Shipiba from becoming a healing factory so we keep our groups small without losing quality of the experience. In our ceremonies we always have 3-4 shamans and 1-2 facilitators, while the groups are between 5 to 15 participants max.

What should I consider and take for my stay?

  • Ensure your passport holds validity for a minimum of 6 months upon your arrival in Peru.
  • Pack a raincoat and a pair of crocs – both items can be acquired inexpensively in Iquitos.
  • Remember to equip yourself with a headlamp featuring a red light option for the ceremony; while white light suffices outdoors, it proves too intense within the ceremonial space.
  • Grab a towel or sarong, along with natural soap and shampoo.
  • Don’t forget candles and a lighter for your Tambo (forest hut), and consider adding incense and essential oils (such as tea tree, citronella, and lemon grass) for repelling mosquitoes.
  • Lightweight clothing is advisable, and for everyday wear, flip flops or crocs offer the utmost practicality.
  • Remember your personal essentials like contact lenses and any musical instruments you may wish to play.
  • Be sure to bring along creative tools like a notebook, sketchbook, pens, felt-tip pens, and pencils.
  • In case of diarrhea, consider carrying a natural remedy like charcoal.
  • USD is the preferred currency, being the most readily exchangeable. However, bear in mind that Peruvian establishments do not accept damaged or torn notes; specifically, avoid 100 USD notes with a series beginning with CB.
  • Besides funds for additional accommodation and the Kambo ceremony (accepted in cash only), you may want to carry extra cash for purchasing textiles and artwork from our shamans.
  • It’s prudent to opt for a backpack over a suitcase, as there will be some walking involved en route to the center.
